I would love to see a pic of that the next time that you have that age of chicks....I train my chicks to go into a small dog crate that I have insulated a box inside so that they cuddle under that much like under a hen.

A-ha! Bitten by the old-thread bug!This is a very old thread and much of the info on feeding is pretty much out of date. You can feed old and young birds an all-flock formula that contains little to no calcium, and just keep oyster shell in a separate container. Laying hens will help themselves and non-layers will ignore it. Probably best to start a new thread.
