can i put them together? i know to but them in at night. they are a bet smaller so should i?(hve grown silkies and a mixter of babies)

I wouldn't. I never add youngsters unless they are approaching the size of the adults, about 14-15 weeks old. The others may kill the 7 week old. It's happened many times to folks here on BYC. Now, I don't have Silkies and it may depend on the temperament of the ones you have; they seem to be more willing to tolerate youngsters.

Yeap, what she said.

Some people get away with it, through intense supervision and a considerable bit of luck; but many do not. The odds are not in your favor. Another month or two is not THAT long, in the grand scheme of things, as compared to instituting a habit of pecking/cannibalism or getting the 7 wk old injured or killed.

JMHO, good luck, have fun,

Pat

My chicks go to the coop between 6 - 8 weeks of age, but they sleep in a plastic dog crate/kennel and every day I put them in their own area. The chicks can see the adults, and adults can see the chicks but they cannot "get to" each other. After a month, I start to let the chicks mingle for short periods of time in the run - after the run has been opened for free ranging - so the adults are out and about. Gradually the chicks are no longer chicks and are starting to mingle with the adults.

ok thanks for the advice
