I have 12 week old pullets in their coop (which I need to post pictures of!!!) And I have 3 7-week old girls in their brooder.. conditions for them are getting cramped and I'm afraid that they're going to be really miserable in another week or so..

I have read a lot about mixing young pullets with adult chickens being a disaster- but how about chicks that are 5 weeks apart? Anyone have experience mixing chicks like this, any suggestions on what I should do or how much longer I should wait? Thanks all!!!

I put a peice of latice down the center of my 4x4 coop, so they could see each other and not get to each other. I put my new chicks in at night. It was fine, took the latice out 2 days later. But my 2 "flocks" stick with each other, but no major issuse, they all cuddle and roost together. My first flock was 8 weeks, and my second 4.

I'd get them together sooner rather than later. The 7 week old girls should be ok outside. as previous poster stated, keep a divider between the 2 groups for a couple of days. And there will probably be some harassment to establish the pecking order.

put them togeather .I put my roo 6wks old in with my 10 wk old hens.it is all good.watch for a bit.if you feel good about it leave them togeather.

Thanks all! I put them together a few days ago and it was pretty scary!! I'm not sure how much pecking is okay but it really scared me- I put them in the coop with a divider a couple days ago.. they aren't very active.. they seem to stand together in the corner and do nothing.. tomorrow I'm going to try and introduce a couple chickens at a time to get them living together happily..

This is stressful!
