I know that the mixed breed mutts like Cornish Cross, Freedom Rangers, Rainbow Rangers, and other of the larger faster-growing meat birds don't breed true.

But has anybody taken a few to breed into their heritage flocks for some meaty mutts? Like kept a Cornish X and raised it until adulthood and then bred it to a regular heritage White Rock or something.

I'm just interested in hearing stories and how any chicks that you got came out.

The ones I've seen generally come out looking like their mama. If the mama was the heritage breed, then they look like a strange [that breed]. I hatched one whose mom was a dark cornish, roo was a black orp. It looked like a tall cornish. They generally are meaty at least.
