Mixing a RIR rooster and a Black Sex Link

What will the bird(s) look like from my RIR rooster and Black Sex Link hen? Does anyone know??? Has anyone crossbred these birds and does anyone have pictures????? Thanks, Matt

You'll get a black base chicken with red patterning, possibly in sort of a partridge effect, but black base, red secondary colors.

Will make for solid egg layers.

All chicks will be the same color (probably black down with some goldish highlights), so no sexing.

Not necessarily. Remember a black sexlink hen only has one extended black gene. They also carry the same genes as the Rhode Island Red. Which means only half the chicks will be black as chicks. The other half will be red/gold.

Okay...makes sense.
To OP...that is black for both genders 50% and red/gold for both genders 50%.
You won't get sex linking, just variably colored chicks, both genders.
