Not even a week ago i bought day old chicks (prob thursday i want to say), but tomorrow i want to go buy some more. they might be the same age, but still is it okay to mix in the day old chicks with the week old chicks? or should i maybe separate the brood for a couple hours to let the newbies settle in and then undivide it and see that happens?

I would definately seperate them. GOOD LUCK!

I'd keep them separated for a few days at least. With less than a week's difference, you should be able to mix them after a while. I've successfully mixed chicks up to 3 weeks different in age - but I had them on opposite sides of the partition until the little ones were a week and a half or so. Of course, I do keep only breeds known to be less aggressive, so that may help, too!

Good luck!
