I hatched 4 coturnix quail last Sunday. Then another 6 on Thursday. Another batch is due within a day or two. At the moment the first two groups are separated . Can I put them in together? Then can can I add the next batch after a day or two?

Also, if I end up with lots of boys, is there a way of keeping them together without having to cull them? For example, penning them next door to the girls rather than in the same enclosure?

I'm only doing this for a bit of fun, not meat. And I'm not breeding hundreds. Just a few pets.

Thank you in advance for your help.

In the wild, the loser of a fight can run away. In a cage, there is no where to run. You better cull the boys or sell them. Also, they will drive you nuts with non stop crowing.

You should have no issues mixing the baby quail.

The extra males I would cull or sell off. Even in a pen by themselves they would still fight if females are around.
