Mixing breeds ok?

Well...I'm in the city, on a wooded acre lot with a 12 acre park behind me. Funny how the city says its ok to have a couple of barking dogs, but not a couple of chickens. My husband is building a coop that will hold 3. Maybe I should talk him into making it bigger.

My biggest fear is having to get rid of them. The neighbor had one next door, that ran loose all the time, no one seemed to mind. (that's what started this whole deal!) We loved having "Clucky" around.

I plan to order the day old chicks from "My Pet Chicken"... thats my other fear....I hope thats a good idea? Wait my biggest fear will be a chicken compulsion???

Most people like or are indifferent to chickens. If you introduce your neighbors to the idea of a bigger chicken flock by giving them a carton of fresh eggs I am sure they won't mind you expanding!
I have a couple of noisy roos and worried they would upset my new neighbors, but they say the like the sound, makes them feel at home. Better than the sound of cars going by anyway!
Obviously, I agree with the above posts claiming you won't be able to stop at 3. I started there. I wanted wyandottes and rocks and a silkie. Then my roomie wanted a black chicken and the other wanted a big chicken, so in compromise we got the black giants... then andalusians have such pretty feathers, and we fell in love with our friends' buff orps, and I want a polish, and a speckled sussex.... yeah, you are doomed. Especially if you stick around here. These people are a bad influence!
