I have 5 new hens (5 weeks old) and getting ready to build their coop. I'm tempted to build it a little larger and introduce some other birds in there as well (ie quail, pheasants) am I asking for trouble?

For best results I would build seperate pens, that way you avoid mixing aggression levels and size differences. If you really wanted to mix them, try it and just watch the aggression levels.

I've seen chickens mixed with duck and other birds their size. I've also seen them mixed with turkey or the occasional peacock, but with these cases the peacock beat the living daylights out of all the roosters in the pen whenever the peacock got bored(and who said they were a fu-fu birds?LOL)

Maybe you will see one of those rare hybrids(PheasantXChicken) hatch out one day. LOL
