Hi All,

I tried to post this topic under a different group, but didn't many responses. I thought I'd give it another try. I have 5 almost one month old chicks in my brooder right now. One of them turned into a rooster, so I am getting another chick from the hatchery for free (they were supposed to all be pullets). I am worried about mixing the group, and the one day old being picked on or trampled. Has anyone had luck mixing chicks? Suggestions?

I have had mixed results. In the end, those that brood together, hang in the hood together.

If you can brood them in the same box, with a divider, you should be able to let them run together in a few weeks. My suggestion is you keep the day olds apart for now, and then when you mix them, make sure there are two heat lamps.
