Hello backyard chicken-ers,

I was looking around the internet and couldn't find an answer to this question....Now I wasn't really sure how to put the question into words where it would make sense. But basically, my question is, can I mix English game birds in with things like bantam cochins, olive eggers, orpingtons, wyandottes, etc.?

I feel like it wouldn't be a problem.....I keep bantams and standards as far as size goes, and I have seen what looks to me like English game mixed with some red stars on the reservation near my house, but I wanted to reach out to the experts here:)

Thank you everyone in advance for the responses and advise.

Are you wondering about housing them together or breeding for chicks?

As far as housing, individual personality matters and gender. I had 1 mini chicken (bantum) given to me that got a sprained leg when my standard roo tried to mate. I Gave her to a hen only friend.

Other then that use your best judgment for your animals. And good luck.

I always kept a mixed flock. Hens only, no roosters. As the previous poster stated, Goliath could easily overcome David. David had the sling shot. Your chicken is empty handed.
My flock past and present.

What is being referred to as an "English Game"?

Old English Game Bantam (OEGB) not really a Game Chicken
Standard Sized American Game - is a real game chicken
American Game Bantam - bantamized version of above

Based on your objectives and approach so far, I recommend you purchase a book or two on the subject. Material will be organized so you will not be wasting anyone's time, including your own.
