mixing flocks

hello all, any advice on mixing flocks? we have some straight run red broilers and i was thinking of saving a few of the girls as layers (though they apparently are not so good for it?, they are layers none the less), but it would be easier if they were living with the actual egg laying flock of sixteen hens and two roos. we were thinking of mixing in, maybe, five of the reds with the layers.
any suggestions?

Mix em in useing the same method for introduceing any new bird to a flock.
What can it hurt and if they arent assimilated with the rest then you can cull them back out.
I have successfully integrated groups before. They just need a week or so of visual time

I just add new chickens to my flock and it took about a week for them to used to each other.
