Mixing incubating methods?

I just know I'll never go back to laying them on their sides. I've had much better luck with putting them in the cartons for the hatch.

You start your in cartons. With good hatches you should keep doing what works best for you.

No, I don't start in them in the cartons. I don't put them in cartons until the last 3 days. They're in a turner before that.

I have pretty good acess to to eggs for cheap. I'm interested in trying both ways and seeing what works best. I think I'll test to see how much higher the eggs will be in the incubator and the temp at the top of the eggs. Would it make a difference if I used an egg flat and not a normal carton? I wish I had 2 incubators to do a comparison hatch...
Hmmm... Can't decide.... I don't know If I want to risk my first hatch...

If still air with a turner, moving them to a carton. Would keep them at the same level. If from turner to the floor, thats moving to cooler area.

So what s best in still air incubators, is keeping them at the same level. Flat or cartons.

I use the carton method as well though I wouldn't use a flat. The chicks should be able to get out of the carton and onto the floor of the bator so as to not disturb the other eggs that are hatching. That's the whole point of using cartons for hatching really...Good luck and don't forget to post your results!

Thanks for the help guys!

I've decided fo this hatch I'm going to leave them on their sides.
My next clutch that I do I'll try the carton method.
What if I cut up a flat into sections so there is open floor space? That would fix the problem right?
You guys know I'll be posting what happens!
