Personally I wait till they are on the same feed. My breeders and layers get different feed to my chicks or growers. They go onto adult feed at POL or around 6mo. Before that they share a chicken wire wall with the older hens and integration is usually pretty easy by the time I open the dividing gate. I scatter scratch grain to keep everyone busy for several days but have never had serious problems blending the groups at that age.
