Hello. I know everyone has their beliefs on the right and wrong way , and its always best to do what works right for your flock , but I'm sooooo confused on Rooster etiquette !!??!!?? my flock all lives together in the coop at night and free ranges during the day, the only Adult Males in my coop are Guinea and Ducks. I have about 30 hens and in my spring batch this year I Accidently ended up with a boy. ( I ordered all hens but there was one little chick that was different form the rest) he's almost 4 months now. Hes so sweet and follows me everywhere, he's gotton a little pushy a few times, so I just pushed back ( Ive taken from reading different things, you have to remind them your the alfa of the coop). At this point hes still not at the top of the pecking order since I have older hens bigger then him and hens that hes been raised with from his hatch.
1. As far as pointers with Rooster, I'm ears open to knowing how these guys work :) .....
tricks and secrets?? ......
when do they start crowing ?
2. I have another set of chicks that are about 3 weeks old now (which obvi still arnt ready to meet everyone in the coop) but in that batch I have 2 male silkies ...... When the time comes, is there going to be a problem with multiple roos in the coop ?
can you have multiple roosters together?
I really never even wanted a Rooster in my coop to begin with because I didn't want fertile eggs, but I love him, and with silkies its a male dominated world so that's how that goes with the luck of the draw..... I just want to make sure everyone can still keep living in their peaceful flock :)
thanks for the help and input :)
