Mixing Serama and Egger chicks for starter flock?

Most of my flock was not raised together but I have hens ranging from small old English game bantams to large new Hampshires. Post pictures of your chickens when you adopt them! I love Serama and EE chicks!

And: the eggers are sexed, the Seramas are not, but I am planning my purchase accordingly and scoping out takers should I get a Serama roo or two. Strangely enough SF actually does allow roosters (!!!) but that doesn’t mean my neighbors, or I for that matter, will enjoy one waking everyone up in the wee hours...even if he is tiny, and friendly, as Serama roos from this farm are reported to be . :)

I’m an urban dweller who has dreamed of pet chickens for twenty years. I mostly want them for companionship and entertainment, but eggs would be nice too! I really only want 3-4 birds, 6 at most. I’m buying chicks from a local farm (known particularly for raising gentle birds fwiw). If I raise these breeds from chicks together, they should get along fine, right?
I keep seremas and they absolutely cannot tolerate being cold / wet. They make great inside chickens or in a well insulated and covered coop/ run. If you’re mixing with other breeds ensure they’re TINY bantams, I have a Silkie x friZzle I tried to expose to my serema rooster and she beat him up despite only being a bit larger. Of course brooding the chicks together goes a long way but serema chicks are fragile and VERY small.

Thank you, I’ve heard they do get chilled, even in moderately cool temps. I’m planning for them to be indoor/outdoor so they can be warm during our wet season!

Do you keep your Seramas indoors? And if so, do they roam free in your house (diapered, or not)? I’ve know people who did this successfully with bantams and even one who kept a single standard rescue chicken for many years as a house pet. (I think this human and her chicken were together 24/7, so I guess that satisfied the bird’s social needs enough to at least keep her healthy? She was strapping and lived a long life.)

What farm are you getting these chickens from? I'm in N. Cal.
Oh it's just for future reference. I already have my Serama chicks now.

Oh yeah I know of that farm. If you get Seramas from her pick them up, don't have her ship it. The chicks are fragile and you'll be buying straight runs for sure. She does have pretty silked Seramas.
