Mixing your own feed

Hey, I would like to mix my own feed for my showbirds, both to get them off corn (which turns them beautiful gold) and supplement protein/calcium. I have read that oats are good, and flax seed is high oil and nutrients. What do you think? Has anyone ever done it before? What supplements might be necessary? They will get lots of greens and some scraps in the winter, but that's pretty much it. I'm mostly concerned with good feather growth and general vigor. Our winters are quite cold.

Here is a recipe that someone on this forum had mentioned and personally used. There is a company called Azure Standard where you can buy most, if not all, of these ingredients bulk online.
