Modern design, but what's the point!

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've updated on here. Our two ducks, Richard (the Runner) and Party (the Mallard) refuse to roost in the house I built them. I don't think they like the stairs, or they would just rather sleep under the house. Do you have any suggestions? I'm about to sell this house and plan to build them a basic run with a simple roof for shelter unless I can come up with something else. Please help!

Looks good, but ducks like to sleep on the ground from my experience, maybe a few inches off.

I'd re-post this to the ducks forum, to get advice specifically from people who are experienced with them. I've never raised them but it does seem that they don't "roost" the way chickens do.
Really adorable coop, though! I love the design and the color scheme. And don't feel bad, I have two chickens that will eschew their coop entirely if given the chance, and roost in the trees... Apparently nobody told them that large-bodied chickens don't like to roost 8' off the ground...

No suggestions- just admiring your handiwork. Maybe you could just use the top section for storage and let them sleep under the house?

Thanks everyone! We live in the city, in a duplex, and our yard is tiny. Designing something functional and attractive (and cost effective) was difficult. But it looks like I'm going back to the drawing board again anyway.... Our next project is a Hoop Coop. I'll post pics once we have it built.
