Hi, Are there any Modern Game people here? I went to a poultry show yesterday and found myself fascinated by them.

I'm kicking this up a bit, hoping to get more input. I found the modern game bantam club site, some good photos there. I'm looking for more practical info; housing, hardiness, health issues, etc.

Here ya go, might find what you are looking for on here.

if you have any specific questions, there are some on here that are very knowledgeable. They dont really have any health issues to speak of, except for in the worst of winter they are very hardy. They will freeze legs and/or toes though due to having so much leg and hard feathering. Make sure they are OUT of the wind and you keep snow/ice out of their pens as much as possible. Keep their roosts dry, and where the wind cant get them adn they should be fine. They handle heat well as long as they have shade and plenty of water.

We have largefowl Birchen, Black and one Brown Red and bantams in Birchen & Red Pyle. They belong to our son, but I love the breed! Facinated by them, and encourage his interest in them. I really like to see our large fowl male running around the yard, he's just so cool. Our largefowl are more on the project side, but we still show them and we've won several BB's and BV's. (There usually isn't much competition in their breed.) But we like them. Here is our large male (dubbed about a week prior in the picture) and one of his "blue" pullets from last year. (birchen colored, but blue refering to the legband)

I have Bantam Modern Games...two blues (I think both are little cockerels), a lavender pullet, a splash pullet, splash cockerel and a little almost two week old silver (hopefully pullet). I love them! They are gorgeous and sweet. Nothing more elegant than these tiny birds. ^..^
