Post your references that modern meat chickens & turkeys are genetically altered.

I would like to (with your help) separate fact from fiction.

Thank You.

No. Even heritage breeds have been selected for shape, size, color, stance, wing and tail carriage...this list can go on and on.

"Altered" is defined as changing the genes by mechanical/chemical means.

I too put out this challange several times to have anyone refer me to scientifically published paper for human caused Genetic Modified Organism of chickens and turkeys. Data that is verifiable by reputable scientists and not by someones' hearsay or someone with an axe to grind or by some group such as PETA, or some extreamist environmental group's dogma. I found the silence deafening!

Yes they are. The larger Poultry producers have for years been known to have labratories that work on genitics, and then do selective breeding all done as part of a complete program to produce these fast growing large table birds. I have read this and even at one point found a lab that specialises in this exact science.

That doesn't mean they are genetically altered. If you believe that way, then virtually everything you put in your mouth has been "genetically altered."

What you have described is simply genetic advancement, NOT genteric altering in the GMO sense.

Repeating this type of message does nothing but reinforce old wifes tales and mis information that feed the Anti-Agriculture zealots (PETA, organization, etc.)

There is not a single food source vegetable or animal that has not been selectively bred for their traits. Even 5000 year old grain found in the Great pyramids in Egypt was hybrid.

State one heritage breed this exists in the same state as the parents were in their natural environment before man began keeping them domestically?

When stating your opinion; provide legitimate third party references.

I totally agree and didn't mean to suggest altering, so what is genitic advancement ??.
