"I know, it's too late though," she began, resting her head to the ground. "And not quite yet, I'll tell him later."
 
Flip somehow overheard and came over to Dahlia. "Ah, Dahlia. You're right - I'm not pleased. But I understand. It isn't your fault you're going to foal - probably those humans at it again."
 
A look of dismay spread across Dahlia's face, noticing she was being overheard by the stallion. "Flip," she said innocently. "I'm so sorry about this...D-don't blame the two-legs..." The mare wished she hadn't said the last part, it just came out unexpectedly. She sighed and shook her head.
 
Bella's ears fell back in both empathy and because of other desires. She could see it, a little filly running happily about the meadows, smiling back at her. She shook away her own, selfish, sullen thought and approached Dahlia. "Do you need anything?" she asked gingerly.

Dahlia looked up at Dusty from the ground and replied softly, "May I have a bundle of clovers or grass? Whichever would be easier for you to bring me, please."
