Belle cringed at the thought of stallions like that. She had had her experiences with them. "Ugh. I'm sorry about that. I was on my way for slaughter when I was set free, and I fled before the rescuers could grab me. What was WindHerd like?" She pricked her ears in curiosity. "I'm not thinking of leaving, just wondering."
"The slaughterhouse?" Eowyn was curious. "I'm a strictly wild horse. What is that?"
Belle sniffed. "They load up horses, and kill them, and use them for dog food and glue and junk... Sometimes just waste. It's really just a cheap, cruel, way of making money." She shivered, obviously thinking of her bad memories there.

Apollo raced after her, gently nipping playfully at her tail.
Bandit watched them from behind a bush, the smile that was usually tacked onto his mouth turned upside-down. He breathed heavily and snarled at them, though he knew that Apollo couldn't possibly hear him. Someday, he thought. Someday I will kill Apollo, and I shall get Ariel all to myself. She must like me. Doesn't she? And if he's dead, she won't have to choose. Besides, she'd like me better if she knew I had been strong enough to defeat her oh-so-charming prince. Bandit scoffed and snorted.

Eowyn swallowed. Her suddenly upset stomach made her wish she could vomit like the dogs she'd seen. "Oh..." she croaked after a moment. "That's..." She didn't finish, for she knew there was no word that could describe even the brief explanation Belle had just given her. She flinched at a sudden kick from inside, but otherwise, she showed no realization that anything had happened within her.
