She felt like everyone had someone to love and hang onto, and she didn't, or at least besides her parents. The filly shook her head. But I'm growing up! I can't be with my parents forever, I need a mate... she thought to herself, though having a mate seemed impossible to her at the time.

She just feels like this, even if the whole "everyone has a mate" thing isn't exactly true.
