Mold in Feed

How many bags for how many chickens?

I go through about 1 bag of feed for 9 chickens a month. I also give them about 2 or 3 buckets of left over vegetables and garden produce a month. Sometimes the grocery throws away old bananas and the chickens love them.

I go through about 1 bag of feed for 9 chickens a month. I also give them about 2 or 3 buckets of left over vegetables and garden produce a month. Sometimes the grocery throws away old bananas and the chickens love them.

The feed could have been old and then buying "several" bags for 9 chickens could have contributed to mold. It could have had mold when you bought it. Either way, it's still best practice to use the feed within 2-3 months of the mill date.
