Moles... harmful to chickens?

We just noticed we have moles in our yard... Ugh! Are these harmful to chickens? I'm hoping they're just scared of them.

Mole can't really see so they are not a threat to chickens. the only thing I have heard is that if they burrow under the run that might make it a little easier for other predators like mink to get in there.

Ya, it's more like chickens are harmful to moles. We had lots of moles, then the chickens grew up, now no more moles. I happened to see about 6 chickens pouncing on something the other day, probably a mouse, but it was so fast that it was eaten before i could tell.

My chickens really like mole for a snack. They rarely get them now since my german shepherd has gone on an eradication spree.

I haven't seen my chickens kill any, but my guineas have had mole snacks several times!

Do moles like hen food? I have had piles of soil inside the hen house and a hollow dug underneath, with piles of soil just outside the house too, There are no actual holes around it which makes me think its not a rat. I did notice one of the corner vent holes had been elongated from a small triangle to a square, as if to gain better access . I put some planks under the vents and a stone in the hole Since I stopped putting the food hopper in the house overnight the problem seems to have stopped.

I would assume that a mole would love chicken food. Are you sure your chickens aren't the ones digging the holes?

We have moles but I have never had any issues.
