Hi everyone. I have a 9 month old blue Orpington that is egg bound. I have checked her internally and could feel an egg there, so I very quickly got her in a bath of Epsom salts, massaged her abdomen, and gave her some food with 2 crushed calcium tablets mixed in. Is there anything else I should do? I will keep soaking her daily, should I give her calcium daily aswell??
Thanks in advance

She passed her egg after only 1 day of soaking her in an Epsom salt bath, so great result!
Unfortunately, she now has a sore foot. It is very swollen. It isn’t Bumblefoot and I’m wondering if she has had something in it. I am soaking it in a bath of Epsom salts and dressing it daily. I have been doing this for 3 days now.

Congratulations on the egg binding examination. Good chicken keeper awards due.
See if you can buy some Chlorhexedine spray/drops and clean the sore on her foot with it.
You need to leave the Chlorhexedine in contact with the wound for about 20 seconds.
The sore doesn't look infected in the picture but it might be worth applying some triple antibiotic ointment to the sore after cleaning.

Haha, thanks!
Ok, I’ll see if I can get some. I have been soaking her foot in Epsom salts and applying antibiotic ointment when I dress it. It started off as a scab, which made me think it was Bumblefoot. But my friend and I removed the scab and there was no evidence of Bumblefoot (I am currently treating another of my girls, Lilly, for Bumblefoot)
I’ve been using the ointment for 4 days now and I think the swelling has come down a little 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Looks fine to me....might have been a bumble there, but <shrugs>
I don't see much, if any, swelling.
If you've been wrapping it, that could cause swelling in the toes.
