I have a sex link that’s about 18 months. High producer of extra large eggs almost daily. She went off lay and I assumed it was a molt. However she’s been laying soft eggs or even eggs without any shell. Lost interest in supplemental calcium, she seems not herself just a little withdrawn, but other than that eating, pooping all the normal stuff. I’ve found twice two egg like ropes hanging from her vent. A gentle tug usually unleashes egg contents...once it was two. She doesn’t want extra calcium, I’ve tried. After examining her and freaking out thinking egg bound or peritonitis. I discovered she doesn’t look to be molting. No pin feather, no bald spots, I don’t see her feathers in the coop. Are these egg abnormalities normal pre molt or is this something potentially more serious? I attached pictures of the egg rope and also the very soft and deformed egg she laid this afternoon. Please help. I don’t want her to suffer.
