Hello. I recently took in an injured bird and am wondering if the missing tail feathers are due to injury molt ot mites. I have attached pictures. She does seem to be scratching a lot but am unsure if that's due to molting mites or just regrowing injured feathers. Any advice? She has no visible symptoms or mites crawling on her. She is otherwise very healthy and picks around all the time. Her skin does not look red or enflamed.

You should be able to see mites with close scrutiny. If you don't, go in at night with a strong flashlight and a helper to look for roost mites (that only come out at night)
