When my hens start to molt will there egg laying slow down? Or stop? If they arn't already molting. My step dad seems to think that they will. These are our first chickens there starting to kinda look a little bit ugly (Thinking maybe because there starting to molt or something) and from what I understand is molting means shedding?
Thanks for your input
Steve

They may slow down or stop when molting. It depends on how their bodies handle it.

It could be. A little disheveled, loss around the head. Are there any primary flight feathers or tail feathers floating around? That's what you'll notice most in a slow molt. If they are starting they are not far into it yet.

Well some of them are still missing some of there feathers from when we got them at there old home there was a rooster and I guess he pecked out some of the feathers on them.
