I have a 9-10 month old chicken who looks like she may be going through a mild molt. At night, when the other chickens have gone in the coop, she is staying out in the run. Is this normal behavior? Should I let her stay out, or put her inside where she is safer?

Sometimes chickens get this idea to sleep outside, instead of in the coop. I don't think it's got anything to do with her molt. She will be safer in the coop though (and warmer!). There are a few predators that like to hunt and night and a sleeping chicken will be an easy target. Rather put her inside in the evenings.

Thanks! I'll make sure she is in the coop, safe and warm.
