Molting chicken roosting in nest box

I have 7 chickens, 2 of them are crash molting at the moment. Only one of my girls is laying, the others are either to young, molting or taking a winter break. For the past 4 days one of my molting ones tries to roost in the nest box - I will physically remove her one put her on the roost. For CA we had a cold spell the last few days, could that be the reason? And how do I snap her out of it.

A few of my molting hens are doing that too. I’ve been putting them on the roost at night just to keep the nest boxes clean but I assume when their feathers aren’t bothering them that they will go back on their own. It just might be a few weeks.

Molting birds feel uncomfortable in general, and rubbing up against flockmates on the roost can really irritate some of them. Some of mine will voluntarily jump on a different roost just so no one is touching them.
