My almost 2 yrear old, female Peking duck seems to be under the weather. She is sluggish, limps at times and is losing many feathers. Louisa is a joy to me...I am concerned. Do ducks molt? Also, any suggestions of the limping. Have looked at her pads and the middle "toe" is quite swollen but I cannot see anything in it. At times she does not limp. Thanks for any help. We love our "Louisa" aka Louie.
Ducks molt. Search for bumblefoot and see if that is what her foot looks like. Swelling indicates an injury/infection which needs to be addressed. She could be losing feathers due to an injury/infection or because of a molt.
Much more information will be helpful.
What do you feed, does she get niacin, how long has this been happening, etc. We don't need a book but basics about her care may lead to more help.
