My three-year old SLW Alice has been molting. With a vengeance. No halfway measures or discreet step-by-step molt for her. She's getting it done all at once, losing buckets of feathers and becoming threadbare in the process. But by the time the others are just halfway through their molt, sometime in November, Alice will be cozy and warm, decked out in her new, winter outfit.

My barred rock is in full molt...doesn't look as bad as your SLW, but she hasn't laid an egg in a month.

Haha! I've got one like that too. She looks like she's exploded. The others will probably wait until it gets cold. Silly chickens.
