I’m having issues with one of my molting Orpingtons. I’m thinking it is because she’s trying to put so much energy into her feather growth and has been pulling heat away from the comb. I’m in Iowa so we are having very harsh weather and have been below freezing for 2 weeks now not to mention over 50 hours in the negatives.

My coop has vents all along the roof line (covered above roosts to direct airflow away but not closed) it is quite tall (8ft ceilings) so moisture should be able to move up and way from the flock.
I tried Vaseline, A&D ointment, bag balm but to my discord she ended up with it any ways.

I am afraid she may becoming infected. I am not able to bring her inside but am wondering what I should be doing to help.

She'll be okay. That's not real bad. The affected tips will eventually dessicate and fall off. I have had roosters lose their entire combs from frostbite - 'winter dubbing'. She'll be miserable for a bit, but it's not life threatenting.

Oh good thank you for making me feel better! I was scared it was really bad and I was going to loose her to an infection. Even if I had a place to Bring her in I was afraid that as soon as she went back out she’d have it again because our temps can be quite brutal in the winter. Even in the next 2 weeks our high looks to be 32 degrees and that is way above the rest. She didn’t have it last winter so I was attributing it to being worse with then molting.

I boiled up some oregano, cumin, garlic, hot pepper flake, basil, water, and molasses to put in their water for some extra immunity boost.
