I have a GLW that appears to be molting and I think a white silke is joining her. Is this normal? It is unseasonably hot here at the moment...over 100 degrees. We've checked for mites...nothing found. Anyone have any thoughts on what might be happening other than a very early molt?

They are getting ACV in their water. Cleaned their coops last week but cleaned again this week and went to bare cement completey this time.. started giving dry cat food, scrambled eggs. I feed them layer feed and oatmeal every day. For treats they get sunflower seed, scrambled egg, spinach leaves.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they very well could be molting. If they are under stress from the heat they may enter a molt.
Like I said, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't put it past them.

You are feeding them all the right things! However, I've heard that ACV in the water during hot weather can lead to problems.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck!

Good to know on acv I will pull back. Just started up w it since they looked stressed Hopefully it will be short-lived molt

This is the first year I've seen a summer molt. My Delaware has been slowly molting for what seems like months. I thought someone was picking on her until last week when I realized her whole bottom was bare! Poor baby. Others look like they are following. Our "feels like" temps have been over 100 for several weeks. I've been adding electrolytes to their water. It definitely helps.
