We have hit the 90s so far and some of my pullets and 2 roosters are molting. Is it OK for them to molt this early? in a way I think is better because they won't have so many feathers during the summer heat.
I wonder is this is a normal behavior caused by the high temps.

My polish started molting this week... My hens are 4 years old and have never molted in the summer. I just split my run and put 4 seven week old chicks next to them and I was wondering if it was stress from the little chicks as neighbors? Do they molt from stress?

I have a jersey giant/australorp hen who I left so many feathers on the ground I wondered at first if she had been attacked!
I'm with you. Is it ok for them to molt mid-summer? Although she has never had a good molt, the one molt she had was her first winter but no molt the year after.

I have made some research regarding molting, I found out ( and my avian vet agrees) that stress can trigger a molt. My 2 roosters are still molting and so are some of my pullets.
