We have five white rock hens in April one of our hens started losing feathers on her head. Then she started losing them on her back/wings we blamed this on the rooster and separated him from the girls. But now her head is completely bald. A couple of the other girls feathers are a little ragged looking now and one other has thin feathers on her head. Is this molting? How long does it last? I have checked them for lice and mites and found none. They dust bathe daily. We feed them layer feed and I feed them back their egg shells. We get 4-5 eggs a day from the five girls. The feather loss has not affected her eating or attitude. They were a year old in April.
This pic is from April when it started.
