I went out to the coop to collect eggs a few minutes ago and noticed that one of the GLWs is missing copious amounts of feathers under her neck and around her vent. The skin does not appear inflamed, scaley...it just looks normal. It was stressing her out for me to try and catch her so I just sat about a foot away (she just hates being picked up but is otherwise friendly) and observed. She's eating, pooping, bright eyed, comb and wattles bright red, no apparent injuries..seems just fine. This hen did NOT molt this past fall when others did (she was the only one that didn't molt)...would she be molting now??? She did a little shake while I was watching her and the feathers just flew out...

I'll try to get photos later, running late for appt. as it is...thanks for any advice on this weirdness. ;-)

oh yeah, my phoenix rooster molted in december, brrrr and his hen lost them all in January, poor girl. She just stayed in the coop alot until her feathers came back.
