Molting????????? Now????

The other day my chickens started losing feathers on the front is them it is all the same place! My question is: Are they molting? If not what is it? And is there anything I should do?

My 39 week olds have started....here are a couple good shots to show you what it looks like:

I only have a couple girls molting...it went no further then the necks...every day I check them and one or two more
join in...but it doesn't last long...looks horrid though huh?

I have two hens molting now during the winter too. It is there first molt and they are losing a good amount of feathers.

I was just going to start a new post cause I was not sure it was a molt. I thought they started with the wing feathers and I expected a lot more feather loss but Penny is only losing them on her head and neck. She looks terrible, and she has not layed in several weeks!

I have one who is starting to molt again. She is 2 years old and had a light molt in the fall. She's also stopped laying.

Just wanted to let you know, Penny is just adorable! She's a cutie even with that 5:00 shadow!
