Molting--NOW???

All of a sudden, I have 3 chickens seriously molting during the coldest part of winter....what the heck?

The others started in October, and are done.

Man I feel bad, especially for my beloved Buff Orpington, poor thing looks like a wreck. And its cold,.... and snowing.

Anyone else going through this?

I do have some molting. But the weather has been nice & warm here.

I am so glad to know that mine aren't the only ones doing this. I thought it was really weird for them to molt so far into winter. How long does it take them to finish a molt? Mine are not very friendly anymore since this started.

Usually takes a couple of weeks for them to molt to a month or 2.
I just dont recall this happening last year in the coldest month of the year.....

And yes, they are not that friendly during the molting process....

Oh well, lots of warm oatmeal coming their way........
