That's a neat idea and if you have the time and energy for weekly cleaning, more power to you. I will fully admit that I prefer low maintenance for my coop (and I'm kinda lazy), but I do have the luxury of allowing free range, which cuts down on the required cleaning. I was looking for something that might extend the life of the plywood I have on the bottom of my coop. There was supposed to be a fiber/plexiglass piece, but it wasn't cut right. The shavings do a pretty good job of keeping the floor dry, but maybe a layer of feed sack may prevent as much moisture? Then I can replace as needed, heaven knows I have enough feed sacks.
