Edit: So I had two male guineas that were pretty aggressive to my rooster then one disappeared. Once he was gone the other one stayed around for a few days then started disappearing for days at a time. Fearing that he would become coyote lunch as well I started looking for some company. I found some but I guess I didn't push hard enough to get 2 females and ended up with male and female.
It's been my impression that guineas usually mate for life so is there any chance that the company pair I bought will "pair" up? Did I mess up by not trying to find another female so male/female would be equal?
Will the female guinea lay eggs in "captivity" at all? Is it too late in the year for her to lay anyway?

Hi all, I've been reading old post and articles for the last couple hours and found some new Guinea introduction techniques but I could use some extra advice. I'll post the rest of the story later but would really like to know if I bought sick guinea. I think they are rubbing some feathers off by running up and down the cage they're in but check out the neck in this picture. I way overpaid and wonder if I need to go back to the seller with these.

Did the necks look like that when you bought them ? It almost looks as if they have been sticking their heads through the fence in an attempt to get out and have worn off their feathers. It does not look like molting.

They did look like that when I got them. I'm not sure how long they were in a cage before I got them. I thought for sure the way their chests looked that they were continuing to wear off feathers in my pen...
