My flock is going through a soft molt and I noticed this spot on one of my girls throat. They don't fight or pick on each other and this is the only girl with this condition. I try to keep a clean pen and really hope it's not lice or mites. That is bare skin in the image. Any ideas? Thanks!

looks like stress plucking or in need of more protein in the diet, or vitamin D or E. they need natural light or full spectrum lighting to correctly use vitamin D just like us! good Luck.

I had the same problem. I found out all mine had it in the same cage where they were leaning over to the feeder to eat. Seems if the feeder was rubbing on them, I changed the feeder and it was fine after that...Or its other birds...

I do have a hen who has a missing patch on her back about that size - but I had assumed it was from mating with the roo. He really seems to rough up her feathers from the shoulders back. Hope the spot heals/refeathers soonly for both of you!
