I've recently gotten a White Sultan.
She's from some "high quality" breeder in my area and she was given to my uncle (who also raises chickens) as a kind of "tip" for cleaning a coop and she eventually found her way to me.

I've never owned a chicken like this before and I've learned quickly they aren't your average chicken...

starting off with the large plumage on their head, I've never owned a breed with such a crest, and today I've found it bloody and balding:

it almost looks like it could just be molting in action but as said I've never owned a hen like this so I can't really be sure- I mean I've never seen bloody molting

:welcome She is molting, but other chickens are feather pecking plucking her crest. Sadly, this frequently happens to crested birds in mixed flocks. I would separate her before the others scalp her.

ah yes I've recently read that mixed flocks are really bad for chickens like these (Didnt find out till later because she was kinda dumped onto us) and I've actually already been making plans to get her separated and her own area, they only thing I can't figure out is how they were able to reach her because I keep her in a cage inside the main coop so the other chickens can't hurt her but clearly that didn't work well đź’€

ty for your help!
