Does anyone here have any pics of their chickens molting? Can you tell that they are molting? What does it look like? When do they molt? I have no idea. I have had mine about a year and I don't know what to look for.

I don't have any pics - sometimes they dont molt at all - sometimes its just a few feathers here & there - sometimes the entire bird gets naked!

They always stop laying when molting. I've had a good number of mine lose all feathers on the neck & a bunch in the back / tail region during a molt.

I've had some that never did molt.

If they look scragley and you see feathers here & there & they have stopped laying its a good guess they are molting.

When you pick them up you can some times feel the quill feathers growing in, some of our chickens were very sneaky about their molt but our Barred Rocks looked like some one exploded all of the feathers off of them. We had gotten all upset the day before because they looked like they had been attacked, but the next day they came out of the coop totally naked! We could see the quill feathers starting to come in at that point and realized that they were molting. There was a thread with tones of molting pictures, I don't remember what it was called but some one might know where it is.

Thank you guys!

I was beginning to get worried there for a minute. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Now I know.
