My new Bantam Cochin hen is a year old and has apparently been molting before I got her plus she was in a pen with bigger hens that picked on her so most of her big but feathers are gone. My question is how long will it be before she grows her feathers back?

Thank you~

It can take a chicken anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months to finish the molt. Sometimes hens don't complete their molting process entirely while others only molt in certain places. Make sure she has protein since feathers take up 85% protein. Meat scrapes, eggs, oatmeal and quinoa are all great foods to feed during the molt. If the others are picking on her and causing her to bleed, you need to isolate her immediately as this will only cause more issues. If she isn't bleeding but still being pecked on, maybe look into a saddle or some other covering to put on her body to help protect it.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Yeah as far as i know she isnt being hardly picked on in my flock i adopted her with 2 other chickens and she was being picked on bad at her old residence one is rooster which is younger and i think its her brother and a 2 year old hen and they are all sperated from my dominate hen. If the younger hen is picked on its by the older hen and its only pecked once nor twice a day as far as I know. They snuggle together and sleep together i think its mostly to keep the hen in line. But idk
