Like many others I have the question, is this molting or something else? I tried to research all I could online before asking. This is a Minorca, she is 1 year old today. Last week I started noticing her usually glossy feathers were switching to fuzz, almost like baby feathers again. Then I spotted this bald patch on her back. If you lift her back feathers the patch is about the size of my hand. The skin does not look raw or inflamed, just bare and a little scabbed. I've watched, no others in the flock are picking on her and it does not seem the rooster is being aggressive (1 roo to 12 hens). She seems too young to molt and she is still laying eggs. The only real difference in her behavior is she goes to bed earlier. Half of my flock is her age, no others have this (yet). Thank you for any advice or opinions.

To me it looks as if 'someone' is feather pecking/plucking her.
