One of my girls has been loosing a TON of feathers. At first I thought it was our young rooster…but then I started noticing how scraggly Ms. Peaches looked, and then came the bald spots. I’m almost positive she must be molting, but looking for others opinions as this is the first time I’ve had one molt (if that is what it is). Bald spots include her neck, wing, vent/tail area. I also noticed last night when I went to close the coop up, she was pecking at the others to keep away from her on the roost. They were all huddled on one end while she had almost the whole roost to herself. Could that be because she’s uncomfortable?
I got her from someone else with very little information. I’m thinking it must be because everyday there is more and more feathers in the run but no one is pecking each other or has any wounds like they’ve been attacked. And she hasn’t laid an egg in about 4 days which is unusual for her.
