Molting

Hello,

I have three babies that are about twelve weeks and seem to be molting.

Is this normal?

They are simply getting their adult feathers in. Not to worry. Chickens will "feather out" at about 5 to 7 weeks.

After they get their adult feathers, they get the tail, saddle and cackle feathers. They will usually molt at about 2 years of age.

I agree. They will shed their baby feathers and get their adult feathers. There will be feathers everywhere for awhile.

I will be petting them and then they start coming out everywhere!
