Mom attacked pipped egg

Last night around 8:30 p.m. I noticed a pipped egg in the coop. As I go check on all my babies nightly, well I moved her and the eggs. This is probably her last brood and first time hatching as I always let my aunt hatch them in her incubator(she has a 98% hatch rate!) Well moved them all at once and was settling her down in her new coop and the chick chirped. Well she went bat **** crazy and pecked harshly at the egg 3-4 times before I was able to get it away from her. She turned the small beak hole into a massive hole where I can see the head and wing. I've had it in a humid room as I live in southeast la all I had to do was open the window in an unused room. It is now 26+ hrs since the pip was noticed and 24 since she attacked it.it is still chirping and quite active but the membrane looks white and dry and looks to be stuck to it. idk it's my first time hatching also. I currently have it wrapped in wet paper towels to hopefully help keep it moist....HELP!!!

Application of bacitracin antibiotic ointment is recommended, to keep the area clean and the membrane moist.

I wouldn't attempt assisted hatching unless the chick begins to look like it is getting quite weak, as if it may die anyways. I've assisted hatching chicks in the past and saved their lives, but I've also assisted too soon and ended up accidentally killing the chick.

For now keeping it humid is great, be sure to keep it warm too... 95 F. is the correct temp.

That's what I've been doing. It's in a window sill out of the Sun but in the heat. It's been hotter than the devil's buttcrack down here. I've just been looking in on it. Still breathing and when you talk to it, it perks up and starts becoming active and moving and chirping loudly. So here's to hope it'll be ready to come out and play soon! I know the yolk, asorbtion is critical so not rushing it. Just really worried. More shell is gone just the white membrane is visible on a portion of it. So hopefully that's a good sign?

More of the shell has chipped away as it is still moving but looking further I noticed a penny size of yolk sack still at the pointy end but a foot is sticking out, what are her chances of survival?!

Sorry for the late reply, is she still alive?

Honestly I wouldn't expect her chances to be good... when the shell is damaged from the outside, it makes hatching very difficult, and yolk absorption can easily be slowed due to the chick being stressed from such an event. And while I have had perfectly healthy chicks stick their feet out even before their head, it is not a normal hatching and can make the process more difficult.

If she does survive, I would look into a name such as "Lucky" or "Miracle"... she would indeed be both.

So sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose one before it's even hatched.
